The Plastic Bottle manufacturers has been focusing over the properties of the polymer material to enhance the final production quality. The properties which have to be focused for largely depends on the application of the polymer/ For instance if the material is used for making bottles, they are studied for its blown moulding properties, their melting points and strain inspection etc. On the other hand if the application was a polymer rope, its tensile strength and load resistance may have been studied.

So depending on the application the study of various properties varies. In case of Plastic Containers or Bottles, the major property which is to be studied is its meting behaviour. This can be conducted using precise equipments like Melt flow index tester – Digital Model. This study holds importance due to the role of the melting process in the manufacturing of bottles, which involves blow-moulding techniques.

The manufacturing process involves various steps and the first is the method of blow moulding techniques involves melting of polymer granules at high temperature and then pouring it into the carved vessels to form the shape of preform. After which they are blown into the shape of a bottle. During this entire process it is very important that the molten polymer is flown at a specified speed and has a specified weight. This is why before selecting the raw material for the final production process, they must be checked for their melt floe index or molten flowing properties.

The Test equipment used for conducting the test is a highly accurate and standardized machine. It allows to heat the polymer granules and cut a specified length of the molten specimen when flowing. The cutting is auto controlled hence, there is no chance of errors in the test data. Equipped with a high grade heating barrel which deliver instant heating of the granules and deliver the flow. Uses highly accurate PID controller for maintaining the heating efficiency by managing the temperature. A pre-set timer in the machine allow the user to set a time frame for the test procedure. The equipment follows ASTM D 1238-1992, IS 2267-1972, IS 2530-1963, IS 10810-1984 test standards, making it suitable for various material and forms of polymer. It helps in calculating MFI value of a polymer material.
